How to become an Intersectional Ally

Have you observed systematic inequalities but are not sure what to do? Have you witnessed certain behaviours in the workplace that don’t seem right?

Ethnic inequity affects all aspects of life including the workplace. Being of ethnicity is affiliated with an invisible glass ceiling, add another intersectionality and it’s a concrete ceiling. If the last two years has taught us anything, it is to “Take your allies with you”, be inclusive to your allies.

U-FACE are delivering a series of workshops of “How to become an Intersectional Ally”. These workshops are aimed at supporting people of all backgrounds, identities, and genders to successfully undertake allyship at work and beyond.

Moderated by Shabiha Azam, in this edition we begin by hearing from allies representing these intersectional groups:

1. Disability : a perspective from Samira Mousa
2. LGBTQ+: a perspective from Jane Finch
3. Ethnicity: a perspective from Justna Muhith
4. Next Gen: a perspective from Bethany Grant

The workshop will conclude with a Q&A session, during which time participants can make comments and contributions. Future workshops will consider other intersections.
