You Have a Beautiful Stomach: The Cost of Functioning Around the Truth
At 30 years old, Dhara was told by a doctor that everything was fine, despite knowing deep down something felt off. Three years later, she learned she had a fibroid tumor the size of a five-month pregnancy.
In this workshop, Dhara shares how she became very good at functioning around a problem instead of addressing it, and why so many leaders do the same in many aspects of their lives. Through personal storytelling and reflection, participants will explore how leaders become skilled at adapting, accommodating, and holding everything together while quietly disconnecting from what they actually feel, want, and need.
Participants will leave with practical neuroscience backed tools to recognize what they may be dismissing, a deeper understanding of the patterns keeping them stuck in “I’m fine” mode, and a new perspective on what it means to build a life that feels fully their own.
Learning Objectives
- Identify at least two personal patterns of avoidance that keep you in "I'm fine" mode
- Apply neuroscience-backed tools to recognize body signals you have been dismissing
