Mentorship vs Sponsorship : How to Know the Difference
Most of us have been told to find a mentor. Far fewer have been told the harder part: mentors give you advice, but sponsors spend their own capital putting your name forward in rooms you are not in. Mentorship vs. Sponsorship brings together attendees who have lived both sides, as the person being championed and as the person doing the championing, to talk plainly about what separates the two and what makes someone willing to put their reputation behind you. You will hear how these relationships are actually formed, what should be asked and by whom, and where the standard advice quietly breaks down. Whether you are early in your career and unsure who to approach, mid-career and wondering why years of mentoring have not turned into advancement, or senior and thinking about who you should be sponsoring, you will leave knowing the difference and what to do with it.
